Data Deletion

Last updated: August 9, 2026

You can delete your Meylo account and everything attached to it, yourself, at any time. This page explains how, what disappears, and what may survive for a short time.

1. What deletion means

Deleting your account removes your data from our systems, not just your access to it. There is no grace period and no hidden archive: once you confirm, the removal starts immediately and covers your entries, your photos, your social data and your conversations.

Deletion is permanent. Once confirmed, your entries, photos, notes and shared history cannot be restored, by you or by us. Export your data first if you want to keep it.

2. Export your data first

Meylo exports everything you recorded, in a readable format, before you delete anything:

  1. Open Meylo and go to Settings.
  2. Open the data management section.
  3. Choose the export you want, then save the file somewhere safe. The export contains your entries and your settings.

3. Delete your account from the app

Account deletion is available directly in the app, on the web and on Android:

  1. Open Meylo and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the settings list, to the account actions.
  4. Choose Delete account, shown in red.
  5. Confirm your identity if you are asked to sign in again.
  6. Read the confirmation message, then confirm to start the deletion.

If you use a guest account that was never linked to credentials, signing out or uninstalling the app already removes the local data, and there is no server account left to delete.

4. What is deleted

The deletion runs on our servers and removes, in a single operation:

  • your authentication account, your profile and your settings;
  • every mood entry, with ratings, activities, emotions, notes, location and context;
  • every photo you uploaded, in all its stored sizes;
  • your friend relationships on both sides, your invitations, your published entries, your reactions and your story views;
  • your conversations and their messages, which also disappear for the people you were talking to;
  • your notification events and the push tokens of your devices;
  • your AI recaps and the technical logs attached to them;
  • the search entries that let other people find you.

5. What can remain, and for how long

We are transparent about the few things that do not vanish instantly:

  • our providers' encrypted backups still hold your data until their rotation purges it, within 30 days;
  • records we must keep by law, such as proof of a request you made, kept for the legal period and for that purpose only;
  • aggregate website statistics, which contain nothing identifying you;
  • copies on your own devices, or exports you saved, which only you can delete;
  • data held by Google Play about the installation of the app, which is governed by Google's own policy.

6. How long it takes

The deletion starts as soon as you confirm and is normally complete within a few seconds. Provider backups are purged within 30 days. If you send us a request by email instead, we complete it within one month of confirming your identity.

7. Ask us to delete your account

If you cannot open the app, or if you prefer that we do it, write to us and ask for the deletion of your account.

Our contact details appear once JavaScript is enabled. We display them this way to protect them from automated harvesting.

Send the request from the email address of the account when you can. If we cannot match the request to an account, we may ask for elements confirming your identity before we act, so that nobody can delete someone else's account.

8. Deleting only part of your data

You do not have to delete everything. In the app you can delete a single entry, remove a photo, unpublish a shared entry, leave or delete a conversation, remove a friend, or switch to solo mode to stop all sharing while keeping your journal.

9. Contact

For any question about deletion, or to follow up on a request, use the contact address given in our privacy policy.
